In late 2024, Nic “the Captain” Long became our captain, and Huffy BMX hasn’t been the same since. Nic brings a wealth of experience, passion, and vision to Huffy BMX as our Team Manager. A two-time Olympian and longtime pro racer, Nic’s transition from elite athlete to team leader is a natural evolution rooted in deep love for the sport. Originally from San Diego, California, Nic rose through the ranks of BMX racing to compete at the highest level when he represented the United States at both the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

The Athlete

Over the span of his racing career, Nic racked up major accomplishments, including multiple national titles, 2 BMX World Cup win, a bronze medal at the World Championships, and silver and bronze Pan American Games medals. His powerful riding style and tenacity made him a consistent podium threat, and his near-podium finish in Rio cemented his place among the sport’s elite. Nic’s racing resume speaks for itself, but it's his leadership and mentoring ability that truly sets him apart today.

The Leader

Now serving as both Vet Pro racer and Brand & Team Manager for Huffy BMX, Nic leads by example. He supports the freestyle riders and racers while also helping to shape product development, marketing strategy, and team culture. With firsthand insight into what riders need to succeed, Nic brings a rider’s mindset to every frame design, team trip, and competition strategy.
Nic also gives back to the community through his popular “Clinic with the Captain” sessions, where he shares his years of experience with young riders across the country. Not to mention, he does an annual fundraiser for young racers at the Grand Nationals called the Duffel Bag Dash. A proud advocate for BMX at all levels, Nic encourages growth, inclusion, and resilience in the next generation of riders—passing on the same drive that fueled his own success.
At Huffy, Nic was the needed piece to drive Huffy onward and upward: a rider’s rider, a thoughtful leader, and a respected voice in the sport. His impact reaches beyond the track, helping guide the brand into a new era of innovation and authenticity.
